Recently, the Jinan Meteorological Bureau has continuously issued high-temperature warnings, with temperatures approaching 40°C during midday. Amid such sweltering conditions, the construction site of the First Reclaimed Water Treatment Plant in the Jinan Start-up Area remains bustling with activity. Braving the blazing sun, the builders have their work clothes soaked through with sweat, yet they stay steadfast at their posts, safeguarding the project progress with unwavering perseverance.
To cope with the high-temperature weather, the project team has scientifically adjusted the work plan, adopting a "seize morning and evening, fight at night" work mode. The construction hours have been rescheduled to 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. However, facing the tight project schedule, a large number of workers have voluntarily stepped forward to stay at the work site, on the premise of taking comprehensive heatstroke prevention measures. Lao Li, a pipeline worker, wiping the sweat dripping down his face, said, "No matter how hot it gets, I have to finish the hot-melt welding of these pipes. We can’t delay tomorrow’s construction plan."
Heat waves roll across the construction site, and layers of salt crystals have formed on the workers' reflective vests. While the project team spares no effort to provide heatstroke prevention support, the builders have demonstrated remarkable perseverance: welders lean over the sun-scorched equipment surfaces to carry out welding work; electricians shuttle back and forth between distribution boxes; and safety officers patrol back and forth under the scorching sun. Xiao Jiang, a newly recruited safety officer, sighed, "The masters’ work clothes are so soaked that you can wring water out of them, but no one complains or says they’re tired."
The project team has taken extreme measures for heatstroke prevention and cooling: mung bean soup supplied 24 hours a day, cooling spots open throughout the day, and personal heatstroke prevention medicine kits. During the work period, project managers continuously patrol to check the mental state of workers in various areas and take immediate action if any issues are found.
The scorching sun bears witness to their original aspiration, and sweat interprets their sense of responsibility. All builders of the First Reclaimed Water Treatment Plant in the Jinan Start-up Area will make every effort to ensure the smooth completion of the project. With high morale and unyielding will, they will overcome the test of extreme heat and embrace the fruits of their labor in autumn.
